Police make arrests after couple shoots at Cancun man

Cancun, Q.R. — A couple were arrested after a worker from the Benito Juárez City Council was injured by a firearm from two people who shot at him

The shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. when emergency 9-1-1 were told of shots fired in SM 227 of Cancun. According to the report, Eliot M.R.P., who identified himself as a telephone technician with city hall, told investigating police that a white vehicle with two people, one of whom was a woman, fired her gun at his vehicle.

Following the description of the victim, police were successful in locating the car on Kabah Avenue in SM 248. The detained have been identified as 35-year-old José M.C.L. from Tabasco and 25-year-old Damaris R.V.F. from Chiapas. The pair were arrested for attempted murder.

In their report, police detailed seizing a 380 caliber weapon, 33 bags of marijuana and a white VW Sportvan with Quintana Roo license plates.

The couple and the insured items were made available to authorities.
