Police locate stolen motorcycle and robbery items in armed Cancun parkade mugging

Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun say a man who was mugged at gunpoint Thursday in an underground parkade has had his belongings returned. While those responsible have not been caught, the man’s vehicle and personal items have been recovered.

According to Cancun Police, “the Municipal Secretariat for Citizen Security and Traffic reports that his belongings have been recovered and a vehicle reported stolen secured after an assault.

“After the report of an assault committed in the parking lot of a shopping center, the stolen belongings were recovered and a motorcycle reported stolen was seized. Likewise, the Secretary maintains a close collaboration with various agencies to identify and follow up on those responsible for this crime.

“We reaffirm our commitment to work firmly for the safety of citizens, strengthening prevention and the fight against crime in the municipality,” they reported.

The armed robbery happened in the underground parking lot of Plaza Las Americas in Cancun Thursday. The male victim was intercepted by armed individuals traveling on a motorcycle. They robbed him of computers, cell phones, an iPad and other personal belongings.

The victim made a report to 9-1-1 who sent Municipal Police. Police located the motorcycle used in the robbery. It was found abandoned along with two bags and a helmet. Police did not say if the bags found with the stolen motorcycle contained the man’s personal belongings, only that they have been recovered.
