Police investigate possible hate crime after Cancun man found bludgeoned to death

Cancun, Q. R. — A man was found bludgeoned to death inside his Cancun home on Monday. Police and forensic medical personnel arrived at the Villa Otoch Paraíso home after the body was discovered by his father.

His father made the emergency call to 911 at 10:10 a.m. Monday after he arrived to visit his son. Inside the house, he found his son’s naked body laying on the floor in a pool of blood.

Several area witnesses told police that they saw a shirtless man running from the house with what appeared to be a knife in his hand. He escaped by running across the rooftops.

Local media reports say the now-deceased male, who has not been publicly identified, was a transvestite. Police have not commented if the murder is being considered a hate crime.
