Tulum, Q.R. — Five men have been formally charged for the February 2026 attempted murder of a Tulum teen. Two of the men in custody is also facing charges in the murder of a state police officer.

Police say Jairo Israel “N”, Andrés Fernando “N”, alias “Manito” and/or “Colombiano”, Fernando “N”, alias “Wacho”, José Rubén “N”, alias “Nava” and/or “La Ardilla” and Cristian Geovani “N”, alias “Maje” and/or “Comandante” have been arrested.
“The five individuals are being investigated for their possible involvement in the attempted murder of a teenager on February 21 of this year,” they reported in a statement. “
According to initial inquiries, those now linked to the case are part of a criminal group responsible for violence in the state.”
Authorities said that Andrés Fernando “N” and Cristian Geovani “N”, both of foreign origin, “would have participated in the murder of the state police officer from the Jaguar Group, perpetrated on February 15.”
On February 15, 2026, a state police officer from the Jaguar Tactical Group was shot during an operation along the Tepich-San Ramón highway in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Police were in search of a stolen vehicle when they were fired upon by gunmen hiding in roadside jungle. The officer died in hospital.
All five have been ordered to remain jailed for the duration of their trials.
