Police arrest Cancun group of dealers with drugs, loaded gun

Cancun, Q.R. — Nine people were arrested in a Cancun drug bust after being found with narcotics and at least one loaded firearm. The group were taken into police custody from the Cielo Nuevo subdivision of Cancun Friday.

Patrolling offices on Isla Magdalena Street saw several members of the group exchanging bags of what turned out to be marijuana. An inspection revealed more than 550 street-ready doses of marijuana and crystal meth along with a loaded gun and larger bags of pot.

In a statement, authorities reported that the arresting officers “confiscated 397 transparent plastic bags with green and dry vegetables with characteristics similar to marijuana, as well as 10 medium-sized transparent plastic bags with this same narcotic.

“In addition to 156 transparent plastic bags with a solid transparent material with characteristics similar to crystal, a short-barreled firearm of the brand “Colts MK IV” black with chrome with a loaded magazine and four gold-colored .45 caliber cartridges.”

They were also found in possession of a phone inside a “Secretaria de Seguridad Pública Estatal” case, among other phones.

In custody are Mauricio “N”, Elvis “N”, Juan “N”, Antonio “N”, Roberto “N”, José “N”, Faustino “N”, Gustavo “N” and Yaneth “N”, who were transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Dealing Crimes.
