People yelling for help: FGE rescues 11 from alleged drug clinic

Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — A complaint from someone inside the alleged drug clinic has lead to the rescue of 11 others. Eleven males, three of which were minors, were removed from the establishment during an operation Monday night.

The State Attorney General (FGE) said they were rescued “based on a complaint filed by an inmate of the facility who managed to escape. The victim stated that the patients in the facility were there against their will and were constantly victims of abuse.

“Following the statement of the complainant, Investigative Police went to the addiction care centre where they heard voices calling for help to be released,” the FGE reported.

The rescue of the 11 men occurred after 11 women were released in previous days during a search carried out in the women’s annex of the same addiction care centre.

The addiction centre is now under investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. Police did not provide the location of the Centre where this latest rescue took place, however, the rescue of the 11 woman happened earlier this month in Chetumal.
