Cancun, Q.R. — A dozen Cuban nationals were arrested early Monday morning from the Cancun Hotel Zone after making landfall. Hotel Zone Tourist Police made the arrests after seeing the group make a run for it from the beach where they landed.
Their boat was seen by police docking on a sandy area of Playa Chac Mool in the Cancun Hotel Zone around 5:30 a.m. Once on land, the group headed for Kukulcán Boulevard.
Police patrolling the area saw the boat land and people from inside running toward the main boulevard. Four women and eight men were taken into legal custody by Cancun Tourist Police who have since handed them over to National Immigration Institute (INM) officers.
