Cancun, Q.R. — Two women caught stealing 700 pesos in pastries from a Cancun bakery were returned and made to pay. The pair pretended to be customers Wednesday night while inside the shop.
Before they left, each woman stuffed a cheesecake inside her purse. The on-duty sales clerk saw what happened and shouted at them to leave the cakes or else she would be forced to pay from her wages.
However, the two thieves made a run for it with the bakery woman shouting after them. Her shouts caught the attention of nearby residents in Villas del Mar who happened upon a passing police unit.
When told what was going on, police arrested both women and searched for the stolen cakes. They were located in a nearby dumpster.
The cheesecake robbery inside the high-end Arco Vial Avenue bakery was captured on surveillance cameras. Once police were able to collaborate the story, the two women were returned to the bakery and made to pay in an act of mediation. Each stolen cheesecake was worth 350 pesos.
