Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen were called to the parking area outside of the Cancun airport Monday to deal with a vehicle fire. They arrived to find a transport van fully engulfed in flames.
The van was parked under a concrete area outside Terminal 4 when the fire began. Several people videoed the burning van as it started to smoke from its front end. It didn’t take long for the thick white smoke to turn to flames that engulfed the entire vehicle within minutes.
Other nearby drivers tried to put it out with fire extinguishers, but to no avail. The Cancun Fire Department arrived and were able to put out the fire. The van was deemed a complete write off.
Preliminary reports say a short circuit from under the dashboard was the cause of the fire. The passenger van was empty at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
