Cancun, Q.R. — Seven people were hospitalized Thursday after a passenger van accident in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The driver of the van reportedly slammed into a metal pole near Kilometer 23 of Kukulcán Boulevard.
The impact crushed the front passenger side of the van. Emergency services were sent to the 7:00 p.m. accident scene after passing motorists called 911. The accident created a long line of backed up traffic as the seven passengers from inside were removed onto stretchers and into waiting ambulances.
The injured from inside the van are reported to be area tourists who were being transported through the Hotel Zone at the time of the accident. Police have not provided details on the accident or the extent of any injuries.
