Cancun, Q.R. — The passenger of a compact car was killed early Sunday morning after the driver slammed into a palm tree. The accident happened around 2:30 in the morning Sunday in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
According to preliminary information, Mario N, the 26-year-old driver, was speeding when he lost control at kilometer 11.5 of Kukulkan Boulevard and hit the tree. The passenger side of his Suzuki Swift took the brunt of the hit, which crushed the door inward, killing his passenger.
Elements from Trásito Municipal de Benito Juárez attended to the early morning crash, locating the deceased passenger and injured driver who was transferred under police guard by ambulance to Cancun hospital with undisclosed injuries.
