Pair arrested in central Cancun stealing copper phone wire

Cancun, Q.R. — Officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) arrested two men in central Cancun. The men were arrested in Superblock 24 allegedly involved in a theft.

The incident occurred when officers conducting prevention and surveillance patrols responded to a 911 call reporting two individuals stealing copper cables on Yaxchilán Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers interviewed the caller who identified the alleged perpetrators. The men were caught in the act of removing cables belonging to a telephone company.

After intervening and conducting a security inspection, the stolen cables were recovered from the suspects.

As a result, Carlos “N”, 34 years old, originally from Tabasco, and Mario “N”, 33 years old, originally from Veracruz, were arrested and turned over to the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings.
