Cancun, Q.R. — Elements of the Quintana Roo Police report the arrest of two people who are allegedly responsible for a violent robbery in Cancun.
The pair, who have been identified as 37-year-old Mauricio N and 37-year-old Claudia N, were taken into police custody after police responded to the report of a robbery in progress. When they arrived, Cancun police found the pair inside a jewelry store after assaulting the two female store employees at knife point.
Authorities say the pair were inside the store, one of which was behind the counter pretending to be a store clerk, while the two female employees were tied up and hidden in the back of the shop. Witnesses insisted that the pair inside the shop were thieves, not store employees. A police review revealed the two women bound in the back of the store.
The two store employees were able to positively identify the pair as their assailants. Police arrested the man and woman, who were transferred to the Quintana Roo Police facilities for further processing.
