Cancun, Q.R. — A multi-vehicle collision late Thursday night sent one trapped driver to hospital. Cancun firemen freed the driver of a cargo truck from behind the wheel of his vehicle due to a crash.
Several vehicles were involved in the highway collision west of the city of Cancun Thursday. Traffic heading toward Merida were affected by the collision that left a lane blocked and cars slow-going.
According to the Cancun Fire Department, one driver was trapped behind the wheel of his truck. Several others were found with only minor injuries.

In a briefing, they said “On the night of April 30, Cancun Fire Department personnel responded to a multi-vehicle accident on the Cancun-Merida highway.
“Upon arrival, personnel confirmed a collision involving several vehicles with one driver trapped inside. Rescue maneuvers were performed using specialized tools, successfully freeing the driver safely.
“The injured driver was handed over to paramedics and transported to a hospital for medical attention.
“The other individuals involved sustained only minor injuries.
“The operation was carried out in coordination with Cancun Civil Protection, the National Guard, and emergency services, securing the area and allowing for controlled traffic flow.
“We urge the public to drive with caution, respect speed limits, and maintain a safe following distance.”
