Cancun, Q.R. — According to police, a major accident in SM 218 of Cancun has resulted in one dead person.
According to their report, the fatal accident happened on Avenida Leona Vicario when the driver of a Honda rear-ended a stopped taxi. The Isla Mujeres Gustavo Díaz Ordaz taxi, which was waiting for the red light to change, was impacted from behind by the driver of the Honda.
The hard impact caused the driver to lose control. The Honda then left the road, climbed over the sidewalk and slammed into the concrete wall of a business.
Elements of the Quintana Roo police arrived, as did paramedics who pronounced the driver at the scene. The deceased has not been identified.
