One dead, four seriously injured in high-speed Cancun collision

Cancun, Q.R. — Four seriously injured and one dead was the result of a two-car collision in Cancun Thursday. The two vehicles crashed around 2:20 a.m. on Kohunlich Avenue, leaving people sprawled across the roadway.

The SM 50 accident saw police and medical personnel arrive at the scene where reports say one of the cars was driving at a high rate of speed through a red light when it happened upon the second car.

The vehicle alleged responsible was a Veracruz-plated white Gol driven by 18-year-old Jose F who ran the red light, colliding with a Quintana Roo-plated gray Chevy car. The driver of the Chevy was killed.

Emergency 911 received the report of the nighttime accident. Emergency medical personnel from two companies responded, arriving to find one deceased and four others seriously injured. The wounded were transferred to different hospitals around the city.
