Officials in Tulum continue to shut over-capacity venues

Tulum, Q.R. — Escorted by police, Tulum city officials have again proceeded to close an establishment for being over capacity. In a statement, city council said that the Santino Bar has been shut due to an excess capacity of clients, which represents a health risk to the population.

Officials did not say how many people were found inside, only that the bar was closed early Wednesday shortly after midnight for failing to respect the capacity allowed under the current orange epidemiological light.

Authorities arrived at Santino in response to a citizen complaint. In their statement, the city of Tulum noted that the inspections will continue so establishments realize the importance of following health protocols and that there will be zero tolerance for those who do not respect the restrictions according to the state epidemiological light.

Earlier in the week, city officials proceeded to close another bar for also being over capacity. The over-capacity clubs continue at a time when the state remains on the edge of regressing backward to a red epidemiological light.
