Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Municipal officials have announced the closure of eight real estate developments. The Puerto Morelos developments, located along Ruta de los Cenotes, were close for a lack of permits.

Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz says her administration supports orderly growth in accordance to laws and so closed the real estate projects for developmental irregularities.
“During my administration, we support the municipality’s growth with order and strict adherence to the law. Therefore, we undertook the regularization of commercial, tourism and ecotourism businesses along the Ruta de los Cenotes, where we closed eight real estate developments for irregularities such as lacking environmental permits,” said Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz.
“I will say loud and clear, in my administration, we are against all irregular developments on the Ruta de los Cenotes,” she said adding that developments need to follow the municipality’s Ecological Planning and Urban Development Programs.

Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz did not name the closed developments, but did state that the inspections were carried out in coordination with the heads of the Secretariat of Ecology and Environment (Sema) and the Environmental Protection Agency (Profepa).

The municipality of Puerto Morelos has recently been noted as the state’s preferred real estate haven, in particular, along Ruta de los Cenotes, for its close contact with nature.
