Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun family lost their third floor home in a fire Monday. Cancun firemen reported no injuries, however, there was substantial damage.
According to the Cancun Fire Department, they arrived to a fully engulfed room inside a third floor apartment. The occupants of the apartment were home at the time of the fire and were successful in containing the fire to only the one room.

Due to their efforts, only one room inside the unit burned, however, the rest of the apartment suffered smoke and water damage. The fire department is still investigating a cause.
In a brief statement, the Cancun Fire Department reported on Monday afternoon, “members of the Cancun Fire Department responded to a fire in a third-floor apartment in a residential area of the city.
“Upon arrival, personnel confirmed a fire inside the apartment where furniture, clothing and various other items were ablaze. They immediately implemented firefighting and control measures, successfully extinguishing the fire completely.
“It is worth noting that residents took initial steps to contain the fire, which helped prevent its spread. Subsequently, firefighters conducted cooling and inspection operations to rule out any remaining risks.
“The fire caused total damage to one room, as well as smoke and heat damage in other areas of the apartment.
“No injuries were reported. The operation was carried out in coordination with security and Civil Protection authorities. We remind everyone of the importance of acting quickly in the event of a fire and reporting it immediately.”
