Cancun, Q.R. — Construction of the Nichupté Bridge has been slightly modified in an area that joins with the Cancun Hotel Zone. Guido Mendiburu Solis, the General Director of the SICT (Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes) said the join will now be in the shape of a ‘Y’ instead of a ‘T’.

He says the modirication also includes the exit access of the bridge will only be through the right lane of the Boulevard, in the direction of Playa Delfines.
Mendiburu Solis explained that the modifications are the result of a lack of approved permits in an area of the Federal Maritime Zone (Zofemat). He said the that construction permits required for the original junction were not approved due to a problem with the Zofemat concession, so that area was adapted to the conservation conditions in the lagoon area.

The federal official said that the modifications will not result in any delays in the construction process and that the commitment to complete the work in August, as announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum, remains firm.
