New head of Tulum public security says changes are in the forecast

Tulum, Q.R. — The new head of Public Security in Tulum says corporation changes are in the forecast for the 202 officers under him and that the recovery of peace is his goal.

The newly appointed directorate, Nesguer Ignacio Vicencio Méndez, indicated that one of his first tasks will be to review the way the police force currently works to make the necessary adjustments. In a brief interview, he said that the recovery of peace is his primary task, adding that he will verify the current situation of the corporation which as of today, is composed of 202 elements.

He noted that he feels the Single Command does provide results, but what is needed, is more positive interaction with local citizens.

“Crime is not fought only with weapons, but with crime prevention,” he said.

Nesguer Ignacio Vicencio Méndez was appointed head of public security for Tulum after the sudden removal of Jesús Pérez Abarca.
