New 60 million Cancun Prosecutor’s office to be ready by end of year

Cancun, Q.R. — An old Cancun building that is being revamped for FGE use is nearing completion. The old building, which had been abandoned for nearly five years, is being refurbished at a cost of 60 million pesos.

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, the Attorney General of the State, Raciel López Salazar and the Secretary of Public Works, Rafael Lara Díaz, toured the up-and-coming headquarters Friday.

During the tour, Lezama the building had been abandoned since 2019 and is now being converted into facilities for the public servants of the Prosecutor’s Office. She reported that before the end of this year, it will be fully operational.

She says the expansion and modernization of the Office will also become a space for citizens to receive adequate care and address the backlog of cases that have been stagnant for many years.

The building, which will be the new headquarters of the Prosecutor’s Office, had been abandoned since 2019. The rehabilitation project is at a cost of 60 million pesos.
