Nautical fuel station in Cancun Hotel Zone temporarily shut

Cancun, Q.R. — A gas station that provides fuel for nautical services has been shut in the Cancun Hotel Zone. Ángel Carrizales López, Executive Director of the Federal Government’s Security, Energy and Environment Agency (ASEA), announced that in response to a public complaint, they proceeded to close the facility.

The federal official specified that he temporarily closed the station after verifying the fuel station’s environmental impact on the Nichupté Lagoon.

“The security measure was imposed because it was found that the drainage systems and grease traps do not comply with the design and operation and maintenance conditions. This, based on what the NOM-005-ASEA-2016 indicates,” detailed Ángel Carrizalez.

This NOM article regulates the specifications, parameters and technical requirements that must be met in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of service stations. There was no word on how long the service station wold be closed.
