Cancun, Q.R. — A tourist from Monterrey died by drowning off a Cancun Hotel Zone beach Wednesday. The 20-something year old man was visiting the area with friends when the accident happened.
He was swimming with friends at Playa Gaviota in the Cancun Hotel Zone late Wednesday afternoon when he was dragged out to sea. Ángel Garay “L” was returned to shore by on duty lifeguards, however, he did not respond to resusciation attempts.
His friends and family posted on social media that the young man will be returned to Monterrey for burial.
