National Guard respond to dozing semi driver crash outside Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — National Guard Highways were at the scene of a double long semi crash outside Cancun early Friday. The vehicle, which was transporting vegetables, crashed into shoulder vegetation after the driver fell asleep.

The accident happened on a stretch of Cancun-Leona Vicario Friday morning. The unnamed driver is alleged to have dozed at the wheel. His dozing caused him to swerve off the road.

The semi was found with a smashed in cab and twisted trailer. Two heavy duty tow trucks were brought in to pull the semi free from the roadside vegetation and remove it from the public highway.

National Guard directed traffic around the scene while tow truck operators worked to remove the large unit. The driver of the semi was treated for minor injuries.
