Cancun, Q.R. — A member of National Guard died after skidding his motorcycle in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The single vehicle accident happened Wednesday morning on Kukulcán Boulevard.
The National Guard member was reported on duty at the time of the accident.
Initial reports say the male driver was taking a sharp corner when he lost control and landed against a tree in the central median.
Emergency services arrived in response to motorists reports who witnessed the 10:00 a.m. accident.
Traffic was significantly reduced at kilometer 28 of the Cancun Hotel Zone where the motorcycle crashed.
The victim has been identified as Carlos de Jesús, driver of the National Guard patrol motorcycle.
Despite efforts from his colleagues and the arrival of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
