Cancun, Q.R. — National Guard called the coroner early Tuesday morning in a single vehicle accident outside Cancun. A man driving a motorcycle on a section of highway heading south out of the city died during a skid.
The driver was heading south around 7:30 a.m. when he is reported to have lost control of his bike and skidded in the vicinity of the Cancun airport. Motorists said the bike and driver skid along the pavement for several meters before finally stopping.
National Guard Highways were first on scene after motorists notified emergency services of the accident.

Personnel found the damaged motorcycle laying on the road and the driver laying in the shoulder. The bike appeared to have driven through vegetation before coming to a rest in the middle of a highway lane.
The motorcycle driver’s helmet was found with his bike. Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. National Guard Highways are investigating an official cause of the accident.
The name of the deceased motorcycle driver has not been made public.
