Cancun, Q.R. — A woman and her minor child were found dead inside a Cancun apartment Tuesday afternoon. Police were sent to the apartment building in the subdivision of Paseos Nikté around 2:00 p.m. to confirm the report.
When they arrived, they found both bodies hanging inside the apartment. The 21-year-old woman, Maria N, who was said to be several months pregnant, was found dead along with her 4-year-old daughter in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
In a brief social media post, the Attorney General reported “The FGE Quintana Roo started an investigation folder for the events that occurred at an SM 255 home in Benito Juárez, in which a female person and a minor were found dead. So far, everything indicates that it was a suicide.”
The deaths are believed related to domestic violence. Family members confirmed that the woman had an argument with her partner beforehand.
