Cancun, Q.R. — A parked motorcyclist seen armed with a machete has been jailed on several charges. Cancun police made the arrest Wednesday after watching the man “whip” the street with a machete.
In a statement, the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) of Quintana Roo reported patrolling officers happened upon the scene in SM 221 where the man was parked aboard a motorcycle.
In his hand was a large machete. He was using it to “whip” the street of Avenida 20 de Noviembre, which is what caught their attention.
When police began to approach the man, he made an attempt to flee on the motorcycle, however, police were able to block him in with their unit. A physical inspection of the man revealed 11 bags of marijuana, a cell phone and a machete with an orange handle.
In a review of the black Italika motorcycle, police learned it was stolen. According to information from the C5 in Cancun, the bike was reported stolen from the Vista Real residential area in SM 252 on July 5.
The motorcycle was towed and the man arrested on charges of possession of narcotics, a deadly weapon and auto theft.
