Cancun, Q.R. — A motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a two vehicle crash Monday night. The accident was reported by motorists who witnessed the collision between the bike and a bus.
Cancun Transit were at the site of the crash on José López Portillo Avenue near the Lombardo Toledano subdivision. Initial reports indicate that the driver of the bus was in the middle of a U-turn when the motorcycle skidded to avoid it.
During the skid, the driver of the motorcycle fell under the bus, which was still making the U-turn. The rear wheels of the bus are reported to have run over the bike driver.
Witnesses said the driver of the bus got off and attempted to leave the scene, however, he was captured by area neighbors are returned to the site for police. The bus was reported empty of passengers at the time of the accident.
Cancun Municipal Transit cordoned off the accident site Monday night while the scene was cleared.
