More than a dozen women rescued from a human trafficking ring in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — An operation to search a bar in Cancun has lead to the rescue of 17 people. On Friday night, Cancun police rescued 17 women from what they say was a human trafficking ring.

In a brief statement, the State Attorney General’s Office explained that the opearation took place inside a bar in on Avenida Puerto Juárez in SM 92. The operation was completed through the Specialized Prosecutor for Crimes of Human Trafficking.

“During the procedure where elements of the Secretary of Citizen Security and the Navy participated, 17 women of Mexican nationality who worked in that place were rescued,” they explained.

During the operation, agents arrested José Antonio “N”, the person in charge of the establishment. Further details surround the operation were not provided.
