Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun family lost their home Monday in an afternoon fire. Firemen were sent to an address in SM 219 where “personnel found a fire in progress”.
The modest home was completely engulfed in flames by the time Cancun firemen arrived. Authorities reported no injuries from the fire, however, the home could not be saved.
In a briefing, Cancun Bomberos hinted to an electrical fault as the cause of the afternoon blaze when they reported on a “Fire at a residence in Region 219. On the afternoon of January 19, members of the Cancun Fire Department responded to a house fire in a residential area of the city.
“Upon arrival, personnel found a fire in progress. They entered the building with an attack line and carried out control and extinguishing maneuvers, preventing the fire from spreading to other areas.
“The fire caused material damage to various pieces of furniture, appliances and clothing, as well as heat and smoke damage to ceilings and walls.
“No injuries were reported.
“After completing their work, a safety inspection was conducted to rule out any additional risks, and coordination was maintained with the relevant authorities.
We reiterate to the public the importance of taking extreme precautions at home, checking electrical installations, and immediately reporting any signs of fire.
