Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun taxi driver accused of unprofessional public conduct is being investigated by state authorities. The unnamed driver was videoed urinating at the back door of his taxi in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
The Cancun cab driver was videoed out of uniform and leaning his head against the back door frame of his car for support while doing is private business on a public road.
Since the release of the video, the Quintana Roo State Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) issued a statement saying that have identified the city driver and are investigating.
Imoveqroo (Instituto de Movilidad del Estado de Quintana Roo) released a statement saying they have “fully identified the taxi driver denounced in a video circulating on social media where he is seen behaving unacceptably in public, possibly under the influence of alcohol.

Imoveqroo immediately requested the official report on the events from the corresponding union and verification of compliance with its own internal protocols and disciplinary measures to apply sanctions.
“An administrative file has been opened to formally investigate the case. Action will be taken in accordance with the Mobility Law and the Public Transportation Regulations. The call to concessionaires and operators to maintain professional, respectful conduct aligned with the standards required by the service is reiterated.
“In a world-class tourist destination like Cancun there is no room for behavior that compromises safety, trust, or public image. Public transportation must be dignified, safe and responsible.
“Imoveqroo maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward conduct that undermines the integrity of the service and reaffirms its commitment to legality, ongoing oversight, and orderly mobility for the benefit of all Quintana Roo residents.”
