He was taken into custody inside the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) after authorities found nearly 10 kilos of pseudoephedrine sulfate and morphine hidden in his suitcases.

Mexico’s Security Cabinet reported Thursday on the airport arrest. “At the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), personnel from Mexican Customs, in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy and the Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection, detected nearly 10 kilograms of illicit substances hidden in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Miami, United States.

“The individual was subsequently detained,” the Gabinete de Seguridad de México reported in a statement.

Using X-ray equipment, specialized technology, and the assistance of a canine unit, authorities identified four bags containing substances that tested positive for pseudoephedrine sulfate, a chemical precursor, and morphine, they said.

“Agencies within the Security Cabinet maintain surveillance at the country’s points of entry to prevent the trafficking of illicit substances and safeguard the public.”

The illegal substances were noticed during a luggage X-ray October 21, 2026.

Earlier this week, a male passenger was arrested inside the Cancun International Airport after a police dog marked his luggage positive for illicit substances. During the physical inspection, airport authorities found nearly 10 kilos of cocaine.
