Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An Environmental Impact Statement (MIA) has been submitted to state authorities for the approval of a new hotel project. The MIA was submitted earlier this month by a public company for the construction of “Hotel Resort 2”.
In their MIA, details specify the project would have 878 rooms and be constructed north of Playa del Carmen on the Valentín Imperial hotel complex site. The MIA was submitted by Operadora de Servicios, who says the project would be an investment of 3.1 billion peso and generate 683 jobs during the construction phase.
“The Hotel Resort 2 project will be composed of a commercial area for the general public, a hotel and the hotel development that is for the exclusive use of guests with all integrated services, restaurants, bars, pools, rooms and the areas of support for services,” says MIA.
The property where the promoter seeks to build is located at kilometer 311 of Federal Highway 307, about five kilometers from Puerto Morelos, but within the municipality of Solidaridad.
Due to the holiday season, it will be sometime in 2022 when the corresponding ruling from Semarnat is announced.
