Mexico City suspect on the run since 2018 captured in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — A Mexico City suspect on the run since 2018 has finally been captured. Police say David “N” was wanted for a university campus rape that happened in Mexico City in 2018.

He was captured in Cancun Thursday in a coordinated effort between the State Attorney General (FGE) of Quintana Roo and the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City.

According to Quintana Roo authroties, David “N” was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant “for his alleged participation in acts that could constitute the crime of aggravated rape.”

Police say David “N” is accused of raping a teenager on a university campus on February 12, 2018. Initially, “David “N” was arrested, but a judge ruled he be released because the arrest was not in flagrante delicto; he then fled,” authorities reported.

Elements of the Investigative Police, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City, captured David “N.” He was transferred to the Cancun airport Thursday and returned to Mexico City to face charges.
