Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun mayor Mara Lezama says she is working on projects that will see substantial work done around the city of Cancun. She says one of those is a joint project with the National Tourism Promotion Fund (Fonatur) for the modernization of Boulevard Colosio at the southern entrance of the city where natural gas pipelines would also be installed.
She says she is traveling to Mexico City next week in hopes of returning with good news, noting that according to Fonatur’s calculations, the Colosio project will require around 500 million peso. She says the important thing is not only to repair the asphalt, but to renovate the entire road with a new median, bike paths and natural gas facilities.
Lezama added that other projects already approved for the city include the improvement of the Green Navel for 31 million peso, the market community development center and park in Region 101 for 47 million peso, the Parque de los Gemelos in Region 227 for 25 million peso, the boxing gym in Region 259 for 42 million peso and the City Theater for 64 million.
Lezama Espinosa indicated that in the latter case, the building has been abandoned for so long that it will likely be demolished so they can build a new one.
