Mastermind behind murder of Cancun campaign coordinator captured

Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect has been taken into custody for the shooting death of a Cancun political campaign coordinator. The shooting happened in May of 2024 when the man, a campaign coordinator for a running political candidate, was killed.

On Monday, Raciel López Salazar who heads the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), said Investigative Police carried out an arrest warrant against Jorge Alberto “N”, alias “Papá”.

According to Salazar, he is the mastermind behing the deadly shooting of the campaign coordinator. Jorge Alberto “N” was arrested as the “alleged material author of qualified homicide to the detriment of a victim who served as campaign coordinator for a candidate for local deputy in events that occurred on May 11, 2024,” he reported on Monday.

Regarding the arrest of Jorge Alberto “N”, Raciel López added that the homicide, which occurred outside the victim’s home, was due to personal revenge. Shortly after the incident, Marlon Oswaldo “N”, Isaías Abdiel “N” and María Fernanda “N”, implicated in the crime, were arrested and are still being held while facing charges.
