Cancun, Q.R. — According to Cancun police, two municipal officers on a motorcycle were hit by a car after the driver tried to escape after crashing into a city lamp post.
The incident happened round 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the Ciudad Natura neighborhood of Cancun in Region 260 when the driver of a Honda Civic crashed his vehicle into a street lamp. In a bid to flee the scene and avoid arrest, the driver is alleged to have intentionally hit the motorcycle carrying the two officers.
Police say the driver then left his car and tried to flee on foot, however, he was caught and arrested. According to data provided by authorities, one male, who was believed under the influence, was taken into police custody at the scene and charged with two counts of attempted murder. Both officers received injuries in the hit.
