Cancun, Q.R. — Police are investigating the finding of a body in the Cancun Hotel Zone Saturday morning believed the result of a fight. According to local authorities, the man was found laying face-up on a sidewalk dead after a street brawl.
The incident happened near the area of Callejón de los Milagros at kilometer 9 of Kukulkan Boulevard close to the bar district. Police say the dead man, a Mexican national, was part of a large street fight Saturday morning. Several people involved in the fatal fight have been arrested.
The Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that “following a fight between a group of people who were apparently intoxicated at kilometer 9 of Kukulkan Boulevard in the Cancun Hotel Zone, the tragic death of a Mexican national was reported.
“The tourist police arrived at the scene and, in coordination with the SSC (Secretary of State Security) and the help of security cameras, implemented a control and surveillance operation, resulting in the arrest of several individuals.
“The detainees were handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office for immediate investigation and determination of responsibility.” Additional details surrounding the Saturday morning fight are unknown.
