Cancun, Q.R. — A man who was shot and killed in Cancun was a former police officer from the state of Querétaro.
The man, who was shot and killed Sunday night in Region 259 has been identified as José Luis N, a former police officer who was working for a private Cancun security company. The shooting happened along Avenida 20 de Noviembre in the city’s Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision around 10:30 p.m. when armed subjects from inside a taxi took fire against him.
He was hit several times and died on scene. He was found half in his car across the driver’s seat where he was reaching for his own weapon. Inside the vehicle, police found a long XK type weapon and a 9 mm Parabellum Beretta.
His female passenger was not injured.
