Man jailed for impersonating Cancun city inspector

Cancun, Q.R. — A man posing as a Cancun city inspector has been jailed. On Sunday, police passed a small group of people who appeared to be arguing on a public street in SM 96. When they stopped to intervene, a business owner said the city inspector was demanding 1,000 peso to grant him construction permission.

Cancun police were able to verify that 49-year-old Carlos N was not a city employee and not an inspector from Cancun Urban Development. He was found in possession of documents with city logos belonging to the Director of Urban Development.

Carlos was taken into their custody and transferred to jail for usurpation functions after allegedly asking for bribes and impersonating a city employee.
