Man from Uruguay arrested for attempted murder after firing shots at Cancun police

Cancun, Q.R. — A man has reportedly been arrested for firing shots at Cancun police who were responding to a citizen report of an armed individual. The incident happened around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday in SM 237 when police responding to the report arrived at the address to confirm.

Once on scene, a man from inside the home began firing in an attempt to prevent police from entering. Police radioed for backup from the Tactical Reaction Division. When the additional officers arrived, they proceeded to enter the home where they were fired upon.

The armed man, identified as 28-year-old Gabriel Alcides “N” from Uruguay, was handcuffed and jailed on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
