Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities have reported the death of a man after falling from the eighth floor of a Cancun hotel. According to preliminary information, the now deceased was a Canadian man and a guest of the hotel.
Hotel staff reported the death to police at 11:15 p.m. Tourist Police and paramedics were the first to respond. Ministerial Police also arrived to begin an investigation and talk with the family.
At the scene, investigating police interviewed his family who mentioned that he was on medication for depression. They told police that he went out to the balcony, but after a few minute, they no longer saw him, which is when they realized that he had fallen.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Omar N. His body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service. Police continue to investigate whether his death was an accident or a suicide.
