Cancun, Q.R. — An American man has reportedly died in Cancun after suffering heart problems while swimming. The accident happened near the Meco archaeological zone in Punta Sam Thursday afternoon.
Police and medical officials arrived at the scene at 1:00 p.m. in response to an Emergency 911 call for assistance. The report detailed an unconscious man had been removed from the water and brought to the Punta Norte marina.
Police interviewed on-site security guard Candelario N, who verified that a group of people had brought an unconscious man from the water and onto the marina, which is when he requested the support of an ambulance.
Responding paramedics arrived, however, the man was already without vital signs. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Adrián N, who paramedics say, presented cyanosis in his hands and feet. The man was in the company of his wife when the incident occurred.
