Cancun, Q.R. — Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine the official cause of death of a man who died Thursday during a tour. The man and his family hired a boat from a Cancun tour guide who was to take them snorkeling off Isla Mujeres.
While in the water, the man began to experience problems, asking for help. He was loaded back into the boat and taken to Cancun, however, he died before arriving at the pier.
Authorities were notified that the tour guide was arriving with a man he believed had died during the trip back to the mainland. Police and paramedics were at the pier waiting when the boat arrived at Marina Punta Norte, about two kilometers from Playa del Niño.
Waiting paramedics were only able to confirm he had died. The body was transferred to forensics for an official autopsy to determine his cause of death.
