Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun found a young woman dead inside her home after responding to an emergency call Wednesday. The woman was discovered inside an apartment in the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision.
According to the State Attorney General’s office, a man identified as Lucio G, who is believed to be her boyfriend, was detained by police. They said that the deceased is a 23-year-old woman originally from Tabasco.
Police arrived at the home after neighbors made the 10:40 a.m. request for assistance claiming to have seen a deceased woman inside the home. Upon arrival, authorities found the woman with a neck injury.
At the time, the woman’s partner told police that she had hanged herself, however, police found irregularities in his version, which lead to his arrest. Police also secured a minor female child who was placed in protective custody with the Comprehensive Family Development (DIF).
On Wednesday, the Attorney General confirmed the young woman took her own life. They added that public prosecutors are investigating Lucio G to exhaust all lines of investigation.
