Man arrested from bus in Yucatan after fleeing Cancun murder scene

Cancun, Q.R. — A man who is believed responsible for the murder of a Cancun woman has been arrested in the state of Yucatan.

The Attorney General reports the arrest of Juan H in the death of his 23-year-old girlfriend whose body was found inside a home in SM 101. The FGE says her body was discovered on July 12. She died from suffocation.

The unidentified female was found by neighbors after a request from the now-deceased’s mother who had not heard from her daughter. When neighbors went to the home, they found the young woman unconscious. Paramedics arrived, but only to pronounce the woman on scene. An autopsy revealed she died from suffocation.

The young woman had lived with Juan H for approximately three years. The FGE says they were able to locate the man through city C5 surveillance. He was located at a Cancun bus station leaving the state for Merida, Yucatán.

Police in Merida were notified. Federal authorities were successful in finding him on a public bus from where he was taken into police custody. The FGE of Quintana Roo said “we acknowledge the authorities of the State of Yucatan for the prompt and effective collaboration provided to the request of this State Attorney General’s Office for the search and location of the accused.”
