LP gas explosion in Cancun Hotel Zone leaves one injured

Cancun, Q.R. — An LP gas explosion in a Cancun apartment has left the entire building unstable after a large section of concrete wall was blown out. The explosion was registered Monday afternoon in the Isla Dorada residential development in the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Numerous calls were made to Emergency 911 around 2:30 p.m. reporting the explosion which left one man injured. Preliminary reports say that domestic help attempted to light the boiler when the explosion occurred.

At that moment, an accumulation of gas was ignited, blowing out windows and doors along with an entire section of concrete wall that fell on private cars below.

Police, firemen and personnel from Civil Protection responded to the explosion. At least one person was reported injured and taken by ambulance to hospital.
