López Obrador says construction company executives will accompany him on next Maya Train tour

Mexico City, Mexico — Executives of the companies constructing the various Maya Train sections will be included in the next presidential tour. On Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that they will accompany him during his next tour on September 1.

López Obrador says the purpose is for them to reaffirm commitments to deliver the sections and corresponding projects for his December inauguration. The companies invited to tour the routes from Campeche to Mérida are Grupo Carso, Grupo Mota-Engil, Grupo Indi and ICA.

The tours will also be attended by the governors of Campeche, Layda Sansores San Román and Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, as well as the governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal. The engineers heading the projects will also be included.

AMLO says that at the end of the year, representatives of the media will be able to witness the start of the Maya Train.

The next Tren Maya government report will be from the state of Campeche, he said. “We are going to have the report for the first time in Campeche because it is one of the most forgotten states and we want to do it there,” he said.

When sharing the itinerary of the work tour that weekend, President López Obrador explained that on September 2, he will visit Chichén Viejo, a new archaeological zone that will open to the public that same day.

Later, the journey will continue on the first Maya Train from Mérida, Yucatán to Cancún. On September 3, the modernization of Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard and the Cancun junction Airport Distributor will be inaugurated.

After that, he will fly over Tulum by helicopter where he will supervise the new airport that, together with the new airline Mexicana de Aviación, will also be operational in December of this year.
